Learning from Hard Times

It doesn’t matter if you’re running a business or starting a family; everyone has hard times. There are periods of your life where everything seems to be going wrong, and nothing you can do seems to fix it. While many people may give in to this pressure, those who want to succeed will rise above it. In this podcast, we’re sharing our tips on overcoming difficult times and coming through the other side even better!

Focus on the Roots

One of the best ways to achieve success in your professional life is to master your personal life. Find what makes you happy, face your problems, and overcome your inner self. Understand that it’s okay to step back for a moment and reassess. Lean into your support system. When you face these “abyss seasons”, the best thing you can do is return to what matters most to you.

Build Support Levels

How do you lean into your support system?

To have a support system, you need to build levels of support. These can be both personal and social. On a personal level, your levels of support revolve around what makes you tick. What do you like to do? What do you value the most? What are your goals? These things are what make you unique and drive you to succeed, so it’s important to know and address them.

On a social level, your support system will consist of the people you know. This includes friends and family, but it can also cover your professional relationships. When you’re in a tough financial situation, it’s always handy to have someone knowledgeable to reach out to. Financially savvy coworkers or investor buddies can give you the boost you need to get back on your feet.

Find Your Purpose

We’ve already talked about this, but it’s important to know what you’re working towards. If you find yourself in an abyss season, then it’s time to take a moment to step back and reflect. What is the most important thing in your life? What are you working towards, and what legacy do you want to leave behind? While it’s great for everyone to know the answer to these questions, it’s especially important for business owners and creators to understand these issues.

You want to build a business that revolves around and provides for your most important thing. Not every business will fit with everyone’s lifestyle, goals, and personal values. Moreover, in some cases, the things you struggle with may just become an asset. For example, many parents find themselves frustrated and tired at the end of potty training sessions. For many, this is a daily struggle that is a part of everyone’s life. For an entrepreneur, however, this common problem could be an opportunity to create a multimillion-dollar business like Andrea did! Entrepreneurs are those who see problems in the world and decide, “that problem is my responsibility  to solve.” When you find a solution you can offer the marketplace that also revolves around your purpose, you have a dream business!

Rethink Your Mindset

Another common challenge for both business and personal affairs during abyss seasons is our individual mindset. Instead of bemoaning a challenge, see it as a growth opportunity. No matter what you’re going through, you can and will learn from it. With these new experiences, you’ll gain new knowledge of how to handle yourself and how to interact with the world around you.

While everyone must overcome obstacles in their life, the best of the best recognize these temporary challenges as opportunities to grow as a person. In addition to being a possible point of professional development, these dark times also give us the opportunity to step back and reevaluate ourselves and our goals.

Your challenges are the beginning of a breakthrough. When you enter an abyss season, it’s time to take charge and find what drives you to succeed. Build upon your existing support levels, seize your personal goals, and head for the light at the other end. You will succeed as long as you put in the necessary work and sweat equity.
