7 Limiting Beliefs to Overcome for in the New Year

Being a parent and a small business owner can be hard. It’s totally normal to feel like you’re being pulled in all directions, and it’s so easy to fall into the trap of negative thoughts and self-doubt. Today, we’re going to talk about the power of your story and your voice, and how self-discovery can help you overcome common limiting beliefs that may hold you back.

We met with Mompreneur and author of “Own Your Shift”, Holli Peel and talked about overcoming limiting beliefs. We learned how to identify and take control of 7 limiting beliefs that are holding us back.

1. Identify Your Negative Stories And Rewrite Them With The Truth

Sometimes you’ll have thoughts about yourself and your accomplishments that just aren’t true. It’s not due to a lack of self-awareness, or to anything that’s anybody’s fault; sometimes we just have these thoughts that seem to limit and make us feel stuck. When we see these thoughts and tell ourselves these negative stories, part of growing and moving forward is rewriting these thoughts with the truth.

Negative thoughts are just a part of being human– but once you are in touch with your thoughts and feelings, you’ll be able to identify those thoughts and walk them back. As you develop self-awareness, you’ll be able to stop those thoughts more quickly and replace them with something that’s more accurate.

2. Look For Proof

When you have negative thoughts, look for proof. Go digging through your own history; you might find that when you examine yourself, the negative things you believe aren’t actually true. For example, sometimes people’s first reaction to kindness or compliments is to laugh them off. Sometimes you need to practice being open and receiving good things like compliments from others to help yourself perceive your own value.

3. Learn To Identify Your Negative Thoughts

Some of our negative thoughts are so ingrained that it can be hard to uproot them. But there are ways you can find them. First, look for patterns. When somebody says something nice to you, do you find yourself shrugging it off or trying to justify your actions? It’s easy for these patterns to develop! Are you falling into traps like common limiting beliefs about money or success? If so, don’t worry; instead, reframe these thoughts and embrace them as part of the journey.

4. Write It Out

Journaling is a great tool to improve your self-awareness. The pages of a journal are a great place to ask questions and explore your thoughts and feelings. Even your negative feelings are a great guidepost. You don’t have to act on your feelings; you can always choose to act differently. But when you’re journaling, allow yourself to feel your negative emotions and then use your journal to explore them. What can these feelings teach you? Is there a pattern to them? Allow the feelings to be present and then compare them to what you know is true in your journal. You’ll be amazed at how much it helps.

5. Build Community

You need to have people in your life who are in your corner and who know your value. Having a community of people who love you and care about you is a huge part of figuring out who you are. It’s this community that will call you out when you’re tearing yourself down. These are the people who will help you see your own worth, so hold them close!

6. Take Ownership

In order to grow and build emotional intelligence, you have to take ownership. This is true for any process– if you want to see growth, you need to step up and take ownership. Think about having kids. When you have a baby, you have to decide everything. You’re in charge of sleep schedules, feeding, the diaper bag, what your plans are when you leave the house– everything! Nobody else can take charge, and the same is true for your own life.

7. Learn To Love The Journey

Not every step of your journey to self-discovery is going to be perfect. There’s going to be mess, there’s going to be imperfection, and there’s going to be things that don’t go to plan. But the thing about the journey is that it’s a process– it’s never done. Learn to embrace the imperfections of the journey, so you won’t feel like you’re trapped waiting until you get to a certain point. You must learn to enjoy the process, or you won’t be satisfied once you reach your destination; if you learn to love the process, you’ll have fun with it along the way.

How to Skyrocket and Accelerate Your Career by Choosing Rest

When we share stories and advice with our Rainmaker families, we don’t want to just repeat the same old hustle culture platitudes. That’s not us. We’re not here to spend our lives working, just to lose out on precious family time.

So today, we want to share the power of rest, and how resting can actually help accelerate your career and help you reach your goals. Every day the world tells us that we have to keep pushing and keep going fast– but we aren’t machines. We’re people, and people need to rest!

Choosing Rest

Rest isn’t just taking a break; it’s an active choice. When you choose to rest, when you choose to take a step back and give yourself the time and space for self-reflection, what you’re actually doing is making a space for growth and development.

But sometimes, you have to rest. Sometimes, you’re forced into resting by outside circumstances. That’s what happened to me– when I was pregnant with Oliver, it was a rough ride. I wasn’t able to keep up with my usual pace. I had to rest.

And let me tell you, I did not want to rest! Toward the end of 2022, I spent a lot of time frustrated. Every time I would gain momentum or more energy, I was just faced with setback after setback. It felt like I was taking ten steps forward and then five steps back, and it was a really frustrating place to be in. I had all of these dreams and goals, but I couldn’t meet them because my body was forcing me to rest.

And then Ollie was born, and…I kept resting. Instead of getting right back to work, I took two months away. I did this because I wanted to be with my newborn. They’re only little once, and I wanted to spend that time with him. And as I rested with intention, I felt something change. Coming out of those two months, I could feel the shift happening. I was ready to hit the ground running, but it wasn’t a frantic hustle mode. Instead, it was a refinement. I knew what I wanted to do and how I needed to do it– and I only had the energy because I rested.

Rest Is The Key

If you’re reading this and it’s resonating with you– if you have been feeling a slump in your life or your business, or you’ve been struggling with your day-to-day tasks– then rest is the key. Rest is what’s going to help lift you up and give you the energy to accelerate your career.

You don’t have to put everything on hold– if it’s not realistic to take two months away from your business, then don’t. For many people, it won’t be. You still have bills to pay and kids who need you, and life is going to continue.

But what if you took a day, or even just an afternoon for yourself to intentionally rest? What if you spent a little bit to secure some childcare so that you can go rest? What if you took a week off of social media, or chose to not carry your phone around unless you were going out of the house? That’s rest! Tilt your work-life balance towards “life” and take that time to rest and recharge.

Rest As A Strategy

Sometimes the biggest strategy for moving toward your growth is to rest. Give yourself the time to refresh and rejuvenate, and give yourself time to look back on your progress and accurately reflect. Lean into rest and use your resting periods to your advantage. Take some time to rest at the end of the month and practice some self-reflection. After you rest, ask yourself what you need to change and shift. When you take the time to rest, you’re giving yourself the opportunity to fine-tune your goals. Rest will allow you to ease into the next month or phase of your business.

When you’re setting goals for 2023 and beyond, make sure that getting rest is on the list. As we move through different seasons of life, it is always worth it to make time for rest. Rest is how we prepare to move forward. It’s where we get the energy to keep going.

This year, take some time to rest. Take some time for yourself because you need it. I believe that you’re going to see a massive return on whatever you’re building or fighting for if you take the time to give yourself some space and just rest. You can listen to the complete podcast about choosing rest to accelerate your success here.
At Rainmakers, we know how important it is to rest. We believe that nothing is as important as taking time for you and your family. Join our seven-day Rainmaker Challenge to learn how to grow your business and finances without taking time away from what’s really important.

How Would Your Life Change Today if You Could Time Travel?

Time travel is an enthralling concept that has captured the human imagination for years. From stories like H.G. Wells’ The Time Machine to the ‘80s classic Back to the Future, fictional time travel is one of our favorite fictional subjects to explore.

But time travel can also be an exercise in mindfulness. No, really! Today, we’re going to talk about how you can “time travel.” We will lead you through two mindfulness experiences to help you revisit important moments in the past and reach into the future by talking to your future self now.

It might sound silly, but we assure you: letting yourself play with time travel as a thought experiment is a great way to engage and be more present without forgetting the past or getting too caught up in the future to take important actions now. If you prefer, you can watch or listen to our full podcast episode.

How Can Mindfulness Let You Time Travel?

To start our journeys into the past and the future, we need to take a moment to talk about mindfulness. When you approach your life with mindfulness and intention, you will see all kinds of turnarounds and interesting things happening in your life. You will be able to approach life with a healthier mindset, and that will reflect in your business and your family time.

Say for instance you’re an Amazon seller like we are and like many of our Rainmaker families are, and you really want to make six figures in your business. There are two ways you could go about thinking about it. You could focus on what you don’t have, which is a scarcity mindset. By focusing on not having the award and not having made that progress yet, you may end up stuck in that gap between your current reality and your future goals.

An abundance mindset, however, will help you get out of that gap. By approaching that situation with an abundance mindset, you can start focusing on the things that you’ve already done to get to where you are right now. Even thinking about baby steps can get you started on an abundance mindset. Abundance is what got you to where you are today, and it’s what will see you through to the next step.

So now that we’re ready to go with our abundance mindset and mindfulness, let’s talk about time travel!

Traveling To The Past

An abundance mindset when thinking about the past is extremely important. Here’s a way that you can use abundance and time travel to make the worries of the present seem less overwhelming. As you revisit major events and think back on them, holding them in your thoughts, let the present fade away. Focus on three important moments.

First, think of the things that you’ve overcome to get you to your present moment; think of the powerful things that you’ve done.

Then, think about a moment in your life that was just overwhelming with the beauty of it.

Finally, think of a moment when you felt something holy or divine—some greater spiritual connection to the world where the timing was perfect and made you feel gratitude.

Cycle through these, just for a few minutes, and let yourself really feel what you felt back then. As you re-experience these moments, you’ll realize how much you have to be grateful for and how letting yourself reflect on life’s abundance can help shift your mindset towards something constructive and positive.

Traveling To The Future

While you’re still in that abundance mindset and practicing gratitude, it’s time to travel to the future.

Activating your future self is all about setting goals and imagining where you could be in the future. Envision your goals, and let yourself think about possible futures. Even if you can’t imagine what might happen ten years from now, think about what your life and business might look like five years from now. Where are you going? What is your bigger vision for your life? And what moments of beauty and power will your future self have to look back on?

Think about yourself in ten years. What will you look back on when you think about today? Take time to intentionally make moments that you can look back on and recall the goodness that was happening in your life. Make memories that you will remember in the future. Having an abundance mindset will let you live your life in a way that your future self will think was worth it. Do things that Future You will be happy to recall, and project those feelings of abundance and accomplishment into the future.

Some of the most important memories that we make for our future selves involve our families. If you want to work on bringing abundance to your life without sacrificing family time, start your Rainmaker Journey and learn how you can build wealth and spend time with the thing that matters most: your family.

How to Unleash the Power of Heart Healing as a Mompreneur

Mom holding baby and toddler

Being both a mom and a small business owner comes with a unique set of challenges. We know that our Rainmaker moms can rise to the occasion and take their entrepreneurial journey while raising and spending time with their amazing family. But sometimes you need to take some time for yourself. You’re more than just a parent and a businessperson; you are a unique, wonderful person who deserves to take time for yourself. And that’s why the practice of heart healing can help you achieve success as a monpreneur!

We’ve talked about the power of resting before, and today we’re going to talk about another way to take time for yourself: heart healing. Heart healing is a wonderful way for moms like you to help maintain a good work-life balance. All while keeping sight of your goals without getting overwhelmed by stress and struggle.

We sat down with our friend Elise, founder of the Heart Healing Network, to talk about heart healing and how it can help our mompreneurs find peace and healing in their own lives.

What Is Heart Healing?

Spirituality is important to our family, and we know it’s important to lots of you, our Rainmaker families, too. Heart healing is a spiritual practice; it’s the process of connecting with God, and it almost feels like a counseling session between you and the Divine. The Bible calls God things like the healer, the deliverer, and the counselor. For us, heart healing is letting the Lord meet you right where you’re at. The process of heart healing is really just a conversation with God. In this conversation, you accept and allow him to bring healing to anything that you’ve been through or that you’re currently experiencing.

When Do I Need Heart Healing?

Heart healing is a way to let God speak to you about where you’re going and what your next steps are. It’s a special time when you can really find some inner clarity and peace. This is so useful, especially when we’re in a season of life where we’re really feeling like we need to be providers. That can lead to a lot of stress and turmoil, and it can feel like you’re trying to hold and support everything– even things that aren’t your burden to bear. When you’re feeling like you’re trying to hold the whole world in your hands, it’s time to step back and reach out to God.

When you open your heart to healing and let God step in, you’ll be amazed at what you might see and accomplish. We provide for our families, but God provides for us. Think about how you feel when your kids come to you asking for something. You want to provide for them– you want them to be happy and feel supported, and that’s what God wants for you, too.

Sustainable Self-Care

When you think of counseling and looking inward, many of us tend to think of it as the opportunity to clearly identify problems and issues with the hopes of solving them. But there’s more to heart healing than just identifying problems. Heart healing is a way to center and ground yourself. A way to focus inwards instead of focusing outwards all the time. It’s not like confession (one of the big misconceptions around heart healing).

Heart healing never pushes you to share anything that you don’t want to, and never takes you further than you’re willing to go in your heart. Heart healing doesn’t mean immediately addressing something painful, hard, or something that you’re just not ready to talk about. Instead, it’s a gentle path that can bring you a feeling of trust. As Elise puts it, “one of the amazing things about the Lord is that He’s a gentleman, and so he never pushes you faster than you’re ready.”

Healing as Self-Investment

Heart healing is more than just prayer or mindfulness; it’s a paid service that certifies people to really do the work to help you. And this is something where people sometimes feel a little resistance because we are often conditioned to have a scarcity mindset and be uncomfortable about money.  Sometimes we see this scarcity mindset develop as a fear of money, where people are concerned about being greedy or putting too much emphasis on money.

When Elise started charging for her healing services, she was feeling that resistance in herself. But she realized that money is just a tool. Without money, you can’t get too far in whatever it is that you’re trying to do. By spending the money and working on yourself, you will be able to see how investing in your inner self can bring dividends to your life as a mom and your life as a businessperson.

If you want to work on your own mindset and enjoy the support and comfort of a community of moms who want the same thing you do, join our seven-day Rainmaker Challenge. You’ll learn everything you need to grow as a mom and as an entrepreneur.
