It’s hard to run a home and business! That’s just a fact.
There’s so much balancing involved, and it’s never easy to figure out what to prioritize. As small business owners, we need all the help we can get. Sometimes, that help comes in the form of tips and tricks.
To help you run a home and a business, we sat down with Stacy Tuschl and asked this successful business owner how she does it.
Life & Business Success Tips With Stacy Tuschl
As a business owner, Stacy knows all about balance. As a mom, she knows about multitasking. She’s seen a thing or two, and that experience has helped her form an amazing plan to maximize your business success without drilling into your family time.
Delegate, Delegate, Delegate!
One of Stacy’s biggest tips is to delegate your work. Small business owners are often tempted to work all the time, and that’s just not healthy! Everyone needs time to relax, and everyone needs to recharge.
However, Stacy acknowledges that this isn’t always easy. Business owners often fear that their successful business will crumble without them. We need to get over this mindset. Whenever we encounter problems or need time off, Stacy’s number one tip is to enlist some help. Find people you trust and work alongside them to form your next big idea.
Learn to Say “No!”
Running a successful business takes time. Sometimes, that means that other things in our life need to be put on pause. Stacy’s second lesson is to embrace denial. Don’t be afraid to tell people that you can’t do something. You need time to yourself, and that means some things will need to go on the back burner for a bit.
For example, Stacy says that many small business owners are in or have started book clubs. This is a huge time sink! Sometimes, when things are stressful, you need to take a step back. Tell the book club to continue without you! It will still be there when you’re done.
Systemize Your Life
As you begin to grow, you may find that you’re running out of time and money to do the things you love.
This is where Stacy comes in because her business focuses on making sure everyone has full control over their life. Take control of your wallet and your time! It may not sound fun, but the results will be worth it. Sit down and make a spreadsheet.
How much do you spend, and what do you spend it on? Track your expenses, and you just might find that you’re spending money on something you don’t need. Stacy, for example, found that she was constantly buying makeup that she never used.
After you’ve gained control of your finances, it’s time to gain control of your time. This is a bit more complicated than the first step, so perk up and listen!
Run Your Life Like a Business
It may sound authoritarian, but running your life like a business is a great way to guarantee that you’ll have time when you need it the most.
Create routines and follow them.
Have a day for groceries, a day for play, and a day for administrative work. Follow this schedule closely, and you’ll quickly find a rhythm. This, Stacy says, is how the most successful people work. They find their groove and they stick with it because that is how their mind works the best.
Don’t be shy about having a family schedule, either.
At Stacy’s home, certain days are dedicated to certain things.
Sundays are review days. Everyone sits down and talks about their week. This is the perfect time for everyone to catch up and vent.
She also tracks when she gets gas because her kids are constantly running around and doing things. If — heaven forbid — the family car runs dry, then nobody gets to do anything! That’s why Stacy pays so much attention to her gas because the family car is what transports everyone to their favored destination.
Don’t Forget to Practice Gratitude
Between all of your running and racing, Stacy also has one final tip: be grateful.
Make sure that you take some time each day to count your blessings because you have many. This will help you stay grounded, and it gives you a wonderful base for any future struggles.
